The Lost City of Barakus

The Kender and Monk

Our newest session was a deep success.

Edar Gix and Scenestra were in the hills searching for Barakus. In the foot hills they were attacked. The small one of the group, Edar Gix, was abducted by Gimlocks who were returning to their lair inside Barakus.

Scenestra secured thier mounts and headed inside where she witnessed a battle between a Grimlock ad goblis. When the battle was done she entered further into the dungeon and finally made contact with the other adventurers.

At long last the party ventured into the water and found the door to the next level of the dungeon. Here they encountered the Mist Demon. The battle was fierce and the demon was trounced.

The party went into the second level and found themselves in the secret passage once used by Barakus royalty. The first encounter was with a group of goblins. The battle raged and some ran.

Deeper into the ruined city was discovered the lair of a Dire Weasel. Reginald threw a thunderstone into the hole and agravated the animal.

Past this battle was a new stronghold of goblins. Short tunnel where murder holes abound. The party fought their way in bravely. There were many powerful combatants including goblin druids who summoned monsters to help them fight. One goblin survived 6 arrows in his chest andfell to his knees begging for mercy. Which he got. As Reginald slit his throat.

Here the DM did pause in the telling of his tale.

After the untimely demise of Father Bemus, our second hero enters the stage.

Edar Gix walks into the city of Endhome and makes a small nest in a warehouse. Here he spies the second batch of slavers moving thier product. Edar uses his skills to free these poor souls and tracks the slavers back to their temple and once more, puts them to the point of the sword.

After his successful entrance to the hero comunity of Endhome Edar was grabbed by Penelope. Penelope is the wife of Fenton, the propriotor of Kings Road Inn and part time Sorcerer. Fenton has been missing for a year and Penelope has been recieving psychic dreams that he remains in deep cavern with a dark companion. She is certain that Gix is the one who will find and rescue Fenton based on these dreams.

Gix is introduced to Senestra, a Kender Bard / Sorcerer who (while not seen in the dreams) has been asked to decend into the depths.

Fenton had gone into Barakus based on a map he bought that details a part of the dungeon where someones remains and equipment have been left. He copied the map and left it at home and took the original. This has been handed to Gix with the hope that it will help him locate Fenton. Lament, it is of the interior, not of where it will be found in the hills.

DM note to the public: Much to the DM’s ire, Gix and Senestra made it from Endhome into Fools Pass without the encounter table giving them a single encounter. Not dice, not a computer roller, nothing produced a random encounter. DM was sad.

Adventure so far

The star character of the prologue is Sojin the psyonic monk, sent on a mission to retrieve 3 sacred items stollen from the monistary.
Given guidance by an ancient tree spirit, he traveled far to the city of Endhome on the east coast to an Inn who’s name has escaped me at this late hour. (Little help Sojin?) Here on “the night of the storm” he was to find the one-eyed-man.
On this night, he met both Skritch the town drunk with a questionable hero ethic and Matthew Tor a Kyreen mercenary abandoned by his sailing ship. Skritch had been a one eyed soldier for years. Tor lost his eye thi very night. Which of these is the men he needs?

While making preparations to leave Sojin, Reginald, and the two one-eyed-men find a dark priestess who is selling slaves to ships that come in the night. The crew raides the glittering temple of the Slaving Priestess and summarily executes the slavers and frees many tormented souls. They befriend Father Bemus and plant him in this new church to do good for Endhome.

With these two men added to his party and his traveling companion Reginald the privlaged rogue, they head out to the ruins of Barakus in Fools Pass to learn the Key of the Ancient and use it to unlock the first of the three artifacts that must be placed in a new temple.

At the entrance of the ruins Sojin and the troop left their mounts in the hands of a few stranded travlers and headed into the depths.

To date they have wiped out one large nest of Kobolds and a troops of Ratmen. They made the casual aquaintance of a Half Orc and of a Gnome living in self imposed exile.

There was one black dragon who met his demise, and all his treasure now packed in the portable hole of the troop.

In the dark waters in the first level of the caverns there were 3 islands. Each with a box to hold a key set atop of it. Each with a secret passage into an underground room that has not yet been unlocked. Of the three keys needed to open this door, only one has been found.

The Gnome gave a Sojin a scrawled map to show him the way to the door down to the second level.

Announced in game but not seen, after 2 weeks in his new home, Father Bemus was murdered in the night and another troop of slavers opened shop.
